An imaginary communication from a developer, prompted by this view!
The Houses In Between
Please consider our offer, sell up, move out:
We can’t compel you to go, but have no doubt
That it will not be nice in future. Lots of noises
As the old site is torn down, and drilling annoys:
The foundations go in, banging, scaffolding, dust;
That’s what happens with building, you are thrust
Into a nightmare. We would like to help, so sell,
Avoid the disruption, avoid that living hell;
We bear you no animosity. It is your choice.
And we feel your pain, we hear your voice.
But we can’t help that. Disruption for years.
Not that we want to play on these fears!
But they can’t be helped, or over ridden:
There will be high walls, sunshine hidden,
Living in the shadow of high rise flats
We don’t want to make you scaredy-cats,
But it would be much better to sell, take cash;
To remain would be the poor option, so rash,
Please consider our offer, sell up, move out:

That it will not be nice in future. Lots of noises

But you remained, we had to build around you:
Your sweet houses, and you don’t even rue
Not taking our offer, you smile and wave;
And secretly, I think you were so brave,
To stand up to the developer’s might,
And your lovely houses still in sight.

Not taking our offer, you smile and wave;
And secretly, I think you were so brave,
