In memory of joy lost
Another sad poem. It seems to be a constant theme at the moment.
In memory of joy lost
Time to come back, time to return
So often, so very often I yearn
For those past evenings, full of peace
But change came, and they did cease
Reaching outwards in song and prayer
Love at the centre, we held so dear
Dew in the evening, in darker skies
A community of hope, bound in ties
Of hearth and home, of candlelight
Mary on the wall blessed this sight
Frescos from ancient time, past days
And yet we still follow in their ways
Until suddenly it stopped, was ended
A fracture that could not be mended
And inward turning, to feeling self
Evening prayers placed on the shelf
Enlightenment and a journey taken
Which I still feel was so mistaken
We made choice, and paid the cost
Change leaves a memory of joy lost
