Midwinter

A rondel, a form I don't use often, for today's poem about the weather across Britain.

Midwinter

Darkling skies, rain falling down
And trees are bending in the storm
Flooded landscapes now transform
Cloak the earth in Winter's gown

Alas to those in flooded town
Rivers breaking banks and swarm
Darkling skies, rain falling down
And trees are bending in the storm

The Grey King wears a magic crown
And conjures up the thunderstorm
Lightning jagged without form
Now the land he makes to drown
Darkling skies, rain falling down
