Brexit Deal Approved

In a surprise breaking news, Teresa May has managed to secure a deal with the EU at the 11th hour.

Reviving an ancient Scottish law code, Gowk's law, the Goverment has the power to take executive decisions in times of national crisis when Parliament is in disarray. This is a law which came down from Scotland with the accession of James I and was incorporated into English Law.

It will be remembered that Cromwell employed that to dismiss the "Rump" Parliament in 1653, an action which historian David Starkey described as "right but repulsive". This law only applies on one day of the year, and this year falls on this Monday.

Accordingly, Teresa May must now fly to Brussells on what is termed a "Gowk's Errand" to sign the treaty before midday, after which it would no longer apply.

Ian Gorst, External Relations Minister says he was pleasantly surprised, and that having talked to several Scots living in Jersey, he now has a much better understanding of the legal technicalities of a Gowk's errand.
