Autumn Flowers

Late autumn in the rose garden
The last roses flower in the shade
The church bells ring a pardon
Absolution given, joy will be made

The fountain sings soft lullaby
Sparkling waters in afternoon
Clouds are clearing in the sky
Silence awaits, the moment soon

In an enclave, sitting on the bench
The turning world, the dance again
Suddenly a quake, a swift wrench
And comes a touch, of love's amen

Gentle kissing in the autumn days
No sun, but inward, hearts ablaze
