And so to bed.

My weekly compilation of quotations with which I end the day on Facebook, with added photos or pictures. The theme for this week was the sea and oceans.

And so to bed... quote for tonight is from Gary Paulsen:

I spent uncounted hours sitting at the bow looking at the water and the sky, studying each wave, different from the last, seeing how it caught the light, the air, the wind; watching patterns, the sweep of it all, and letting it take me. The sea.

And so to bed... quote for tonight is from E. J. Pratt

There is no silence upon the earth or under the earth like the silence under the sea;
No cries announcing birth,
No sounds declaring death.
There is silence when the milt is laid on the spawn in the weeds and fungus of the rock-clefts;
And silence in the growth and struggle for life.
The bonitoes pounce upon the mackerel,
And are themselves caught by the barracudas,
The sharks kill the barracudas
And the great molluscs rend the sharks,
And all noiselessly--
Though swift be the action and final the conflict,
The drama is silent.

And so to bed... quote for tonight is from Tilicia Haridat:

There is something about the ocean that never fails to amaze me, the way she never fails to kiss the shores even though she is sent away, the way her waves can be both calm and terrifying and the way she never fails to sooth my soul.

And so to bed... quote for tonight is from Susan Casey:

The waves move across a faint horizon, the rush of love and the surge of grief, the respite of peace and then fear again, the heart that beats and then lies still, the rise and fall and rise and fall of all of it, the incoming and the outgoing, the infinite procession of life. And the ocean wraps the earth, a reminder. The mysteries come forward in waves.
