The Ending of the Year
The cold world, the world of night
Decorations away, a time I dread
And everything a little less bright
Gravestones damp from all the rain
A ten year old, taken by illness, lost
Parents wept, they knew much pain
As they stood mourning in the frost
Ending of the old year drawing near
Janus beckons, turning from time past
To face the future, a time of fear
When rides the storm a shrieking ghast
Shadows of the past, and that still to be
Pray for kindness, that’s the key
