Babel Revisited

Babel Revisited

One day, everyone lived in one place
One family: of differences, never mind
And then the next, remarks about race
“Go back, go back”, once more so blind

A vote for Babel, “take back our borders”
Put up the barriers of fear and loathing
And become instead a nation of hoarders
As ship slides under, to wreckage clinging

We shall confound them, said the Lord
Language barriers, and the Tower fell
Once more battles: time of the sword
This time we brought our very own hell.

My children, my children, I pray you be one
But instead they crucified the only son.
