December Days
Cold as ice, the North Wind blows
Like a knife, cuts through the land
On the heights, there will be snows
Chills the dog walkers on the sands
Jack Frost drawing on window pane
Blades of grass are crisp and white
Weather today: hail, sleet and rain
A pale moon in a freezing night
Snug beside a fire, crackling, warm
Hail battering down upon the tiles
Best keep inside, outside the storm
North wind brings a time of trials
December came so cold this year
The leafless trees are so austere
