This poem was written with rhyming couplets mostly with iambic tetrameters designed to mirror the steady rotation of the lighthouse beam that forms the poem’s central image. It's from my back catalogue from 22nd July 2004.
Light Encircled
The darkness moved over restless sea
The motion was alive with vibrancy
The rocky crags were sharp and clear
Upon them stood the watching Seer
The light swept circling round the bay
To warn off the ships, to stay away
Picks out white flecks upon the waves
Shines deep within the nearby caves
Then round once more, and out so far
Meeting with light from distant star
The Seer is serene, sees not the motion
But the master pattern behind the ocean
Movement in harmony, in time’s embrace
Where wind and sea make calming place.
