Waves

Walking by the sea today, paddling with Katalin in the summer, watching children playing so carefree, and high tides splashing over the promenade. This is the magic I have tried to put into this poem:

Waves

By the beautiful sea, oh, the sound
Of waves, soft breaking on the sands
The tide is rising, so soft inbound
Paddling in shallows, holding hands

A castle, a stronghold, fortress firm
Made of sand. Happy children play
Still the holidays, not the school term
Halcyon summers, each joyful day

Waves crashing over the sea walls
The sand castle long swept away
Swooping above, the seagull calls
Sunset comes, gold dying ray

Praise to beauty of waves, of sea
And ocean depths, so deep and free
