Risen Glory

An experimental poem today. Drawing on Gen 49:26, Exo 25: 31,33. Exo 37:17, Job 14:2, Songs 1:14.2:12, Isa 28:5, Matt 2:1, Hos 14:5, and with the theme of flowers in verses, I weld them into a poem.

Risen Glory

Blessings in the summer of grain and flowers
The ripening and opening in June showers
Late evening comes, and the blessed rain
And yet also a shadow of tears and pain

In the temple, the golden lamp shines at night
A base of decorative flowers, gold and bright
Of almond blossoms, buds, and fine petals
The blacksmith makes of hammered metals

We grow as the flowers, but wither too
Like shadows we depart, both me and you
And grass withers, and flowers fade away
But the love of the Lord will always stay

Now within the darkness, there shines a star
Joy to the world! It shines down from afar
Upon the hills, and above the city and town
Blazing bright glory above, a nocturnal crown

Dawn breaks, and this is the time of singing
The birds in chorus, the bells are ringing
My lover is like the wild flowers that bloom
From the winter soil, break from their tomb

A day will come of a glorious crown of flowers
The softly falling rain comes in June showers
So drink deep of the water, says the dry land
As the Lord stretches out his loving hand
