Today's blog is a news announcement from the Harbour Gallery which I received by email last night, which is very sad news.
Harbour Gallery Press Release
Following the fire at Gallichan Marine in St Aubin, early in the morning on Monday 7th December 2015, The Harbour Gallery also suffered fire, smoke and water damage. We at The Harbour Gallery are totally overwhelmed and feel greatly encouraged that so many people are thinking of us at this difficult time. We would like to thank you for all of your good wishes and kind thoughts.
The Gallery is currently closed until further notice so that the Fire Service and Insurance Assessors are able to check things over, and we do not yet know the full extent of the damage. Therefore, we would ask that you do not come down to The Harbour Gallery for health and safety reasons until advised otherwise.
Sadly the part of the Gallery backing onto Gallichan Marine has been destroyed, that being the office, music room and art and textile shop. We are unable to access these areas now due to the very dangerous condition of the remaining gable end of Gallichan Marine and parts of the roof have fallen in.
We still do not have electricity to the Gallery and will not until the Gallichan Marine back gable end has been removed and the roof over the office and music room has been covered.
We are very grateful to the Fire Service for saving the Gallery from the same unfortunate situation as Gallichan Marine. Our thanks also go out to all of the emergency services and the Parish of St Brelade for helping.
Should you require further information, please email partintheframe@yahoo.co.uk or call 07797 736034 in an emergency. For further updates, follow our Facebook page and website www.theharbourgalleryjersey.com.
The Christmas Forest Recycling Challenge judging weekend is still going ahead this Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th December, however we are asking that you send us photos of your recycled trees instead of bringing them into the Gallery. Please email partintheframe@yahoo.co.uk to be entered into the competition and win prizes.
