This rondel tries to capture some of the thrill and excitement of Bonfire night. November 5th is not really about Guy Fawkes and anti-Catholic sentiment anymore. It is about the enjoyment of fire from ancient times, and the use of fireworks in celebration of a festivity at the start of the winter months.
Bonfire Night
Burning fire, burning bright
Fireworks sparkle in the sky
Rockets lit, and rockets fly
Glorious colours fill the night
Wood is blazing in the night
Hear excited children cry
Burning fire, burning bright
Fireworks sparkle in the sky
Blue and green, shining white
Exploding stars so very high
Gradually the sparkles die
Marvel at the lovely sight
Burning fire, burning bright
Burning fire, burning bright
Fireworks sparkle in the sky
Rockets lit, and rockets fly
Glorious colours fill the night
Wood is blazing in the night
Hear excited children cry
Burning fire, burning bright
Fireworks sparkle in the sky
Blue and green, shining white
Exploding stars so very high
Gradually the sparkles die
Marvel at the lovely sight
Burning fire, burning bright
