1954 Hotels and Tourism - Part 4

1954, and this month I will be looking at my Chamber of Commerce 1954 Holiday guide, I am struck by how many of the hotels listed here have vanished. In this blog I look at some of those listed, and also at some of the breaking news for that year. I've also tried to check where the hotels were and what replaced them.

To set the scene for the year, here are some events during early 1954, as the year opened. The National Service (Jersey) Law mentioned was passed in 1954 and meant that Jerseyman were included in the UK National Service scheme:

(a) a term of whole-time service in the regular forces; and
(b) a term of reserve service in an auxiliary force in accordance with this Article.

2018 Almanac just shows it as "St Moritz" so may be a private house now.

Not to be confused with Undercliffe Guest House which is in Trinity, this was in St Helier.

1998 just shows it as 2 Kaieteur House, presumably just a private house.

Still there in 1998,  but by 2018 it had become part of Century Buildings.
