Interstellar

Above is a new image of the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS which shows it's becoming more active and its tail is getting longer as it makes its way through our inner Solar System. The image was captured by both astronomers and students working together with the Gemini South telescope at Cerro Pachón in Chile.

Interstellar

It came from so very far away
Hurtling through the empty space
Between stars, that sees no day
Drawn by gravity to this place

An ancient comet, unknown past
Before the solar system formed
Left its own star, hurled out fast
Now to the sun, and warmed

And then along the outward way
Gravity slingshot onward send
Between stars, that sees no day
And into night that has no end
