19.—At St. Helier's parish assembly a special committee of six businessmen with the Constable and Public Trustees was elected to discuss with the Defence Committee the terms under which the parish will be prepared to transfer the Green Street car park to the States.--At the annual dinner of the local branch of the Old Contemptibles' Association tributes were paid and presentations made to Capt. H. A. Wallis, who is leaving the Island for health reasons.—At a parish assembly held at St. Martin's a petition by Gorey residents welcoming the suggestion of a coach and car park was presented to the Constable
20.—A second beautifully carved chair has joined the one presented by the parish of St. Ouen to Sark Chief Pleas in August ; this one is for the use of La Dame de Sercq and her successors.—R.J.A. and H.S. autumn show of cattle held a Springfield.
21.—Miss Karen Cornish, the 17-year-old local girl who left for Glasgow two days ago as " Miss Channel TV ", returned today as " Miss I.T.V., 1965 " ; with the title went a prize of £500.—Such has been the public outcry against the proposed increase in car taxation that a number of Constables are calling meetings to allow parishioners to air their views on the subject ; slogans have been painted in various parts of the Island. —First meet of the season of the Jersey Drag Hunt set off from Government House.
22.—Before the Royal Court, 34-year-old Leonard Frederick Saunders, who had twice previously been placed on probation, was sentenced to 12 month's' imprisonment on various charges of fraud.—Fines totalling £125 plus 15 guineas costs were imposed at the Royal Court on the Hotel Ellerslie Ltd. for infractions of the Tourism Law.—Eight road deaths were recorded in the July—September quarter, five more than in the first six months of the current year.
'33.—Following the arrival by air yesterday of officials of the A.B.T.A. Convention—the biggest ever held in the Island—the main body of delegates and their wives, some 1,100 arrived by sea and air today, the first major function taking place at the Merton Hotel tomorrow, when the Jersey Hotel and Guest House Association will be hosts at a reception and ball.

25.—Shortly after midday today the Bailiff, Mr. R. H. Le Masurier, D.S.C., declared open the 15th A.B.T.A. Convention in the Empire Room of the Hotel de France, this being followed by important speeches delivered to the 1.140 delegates by the association's chairman. Mr. Desmond Hopkinson, and the Minister of State to the Board of Trade, Mr. Roy Mason, M.P., who has special Governmental responsibility for tourism.—The hearing of the action brought by Jersey Contractors Ltd. against Mr. C. Wright, trading as Renouf's Ltd. for £5,278 balance of payment due on the building of nine fiats at La Haule Court, plus £750 for damages and loss of interest, was concluded at the Royal Court, judgment being reserved.
26.—Following last night's ball and reception given by the Tourism Committee to the A.B.T.A. delegates, today's sessions dealt with the " Further Development of Air Traffic.—Mr. E. A. C. Cooper re-elected Constable of St. Lawrence unopposed.—The Israeli Government Tourist Office gives a wine a cheese party at West Park Pavilion, a formal welcome to the hundreds of guests being extended by the Consul-General of Israel, Mr. Raanan Sivan, who had flown to Jersey from London for the occasion.
27.—After a hearing lasting a day and a half the Royal Court found four men not guilty to charges of having committed a grave -and criminal assault on a taxi-driver in Gloucester Street on August 28.--An appeal against a sentence of a 12-month driving ban entered by Mr. Keith Anthony Wherry was dismissed by the Royal Court today.—La Dame de Sercq, 81-year-old Dame Sibyl Hathaway, arrives by air on a short visit.—Final session of the A.B.T.A. convention held at the Hotel de France, following which a reception and supper dance was held in the evening at which the Bailiff was the guest of honour.—First of the parish meetings to protest against the new motor tax proposals held at St. Ouen.

29.—A rowdy and sometimes rude meeting was held in St. Peter's Parish Hall tonight to discuss the noise problem of the aircraft, the B.A.C. 1-11 ; Senator Krichefski and Capt Thomas answered various questions put by members of the audience.—At its first meeting of the winter held at the Grand Hotel the Jersey Debating Club decided by an overwhelming majority that the Island was paying too high a price for prosperity.
30.—Competitions in the Norman-French section of the Eisteddfod began at the Opera House last night and continued this evening, St. Martins winning the " Les Enpuntchis " Trophy for the best one-act play performed by parochial teams.
