Visitors Guide to The Channel Islands 1967 - Entertainment and Transport

Ask any visitor who has been to Les Arches what he remembers most clearly about his evening, and the answer is almost certain to be —the waitresses. Les Girls at Les Arches are attractively clad in brief costumes. Like last year, dancing is to Monty Frank, with vocalist Christina. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Les Arches is open from 8.30 to 11.45 pm, and on the remaining days to 12.45 am. The attractive lounge and public bars are open from 10 am. to 11 pm. (Sundays 10 p.m.). Ring East 1839 for table reservations.

CONTINENTAL HOTEL
St. Saviour's Road, St. Helier.

There is dancing every night at The Continental, but get there early is you want to join it—particularly on Friday and Saturday. Music is provided by the Tommy Allen Trio, with singer Molly Anson, who are exceedingly popular with Island dancers. During the week, dancing is from 8.30 to 11.45 p.m., but on Friday there is an extension until 12.45 a.m. Sunday is devoted to a band show. There is a bar and waiter service in the dance hall.

If you're a sportsman then visit the Beaulieu Hotel at Les Caches, St. Martin's. In the lounge bar they've got all the trophies left by the sporting teams staying there since 1898! They've also got the largest ballroom in Guernsey, and the Beaulieu is justly famous for Party Dances on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

On Saturdays they run their Pop dances¬Go-Beat—for the over-18's, but the big event of the week at Hotel Beaulieu is the barbecue every Wednesday night. If you like chicken and a sing-song round a camp-fire go along any Wednesday evening . . . it's a good idea to give them a ring first on Guernsey 38470.

This summer Baron Pontin, proprietor and easy-going host at the Beaulieu has booked a new five-piece band, the Dave Peters Five. If you come from the West Country you must know them ... well worth going to hear. Mondays and Fridays are Crazy Nites at Hotel Beaulieu .. _ feeling mad?
