Autumn Picnic

I had some bags of books, dvds, and assorted crockery to drop off to Durrell's charity shop, and on my way back to Patriotic Street car park to drive there, I thought it would be nice to go to the Jersey Zoo as well, and have an impromptu picnic. There's a nice covered wooden area with seating close to the entrance, where the visitor can view these little red birds flitting around, and that is a great place for a picnic. Afterwards, a stroll around the zoo, and a visit to the new enclosure where the "warty pigs" live.

So an inconsequential rather light poem this week on the outing, nothing too deep!

Autumn Picnic

The weather was cool, a cloudy day
But in a sheltered nook, a space to eat
And though the sky is ever so grey
An autumn picnic is so sweet

Sweet chilli chicken wrap to share
Watching red birds flit around
Just relaxing on a wooden chair
A world of lively birdsong sound

And then the warty pigs to view
Snuffling in the ground this day
Tails wag in happiness, it is true
As they too picnic in their way

A picnic at the zoo, sheer delight
Bonus of the warty pigs in sight
